Banning Book Bans

Banning Book Bans

If it feels like books are being challenged and banned more often these days, it’s because they are. The American Library Association reports that they have received more challenges to books this year than ever. Most book bans are aimed at children’s books. As a writer, reader and lover of children’s books (and democracy) it can be frustrating and enraging to watch. So what to do? Vote, support authors who are being targeted, and join Unite Against Book Bans. This organization, which is part of the ALA, has a toolkit to help communities fight back against censorship.

Books should be read, not banned.
